What is the Difference Between THC & CBD?
THC & CBD are the 2 most prominent cannabinoids found in the cannabis plant. They both interact with the endocannabinoid system but have different natural effects.
THC & CBD both interact with the body through the endocannabinoid system (ECS), which is responsible for regulating an array of the body's functions; such as:
The key difference between THC & CBD is non-psychoactive versus psychoactive effects.
THC is the cannabinoid that directly activates the endocannabinoid system's cannabinoid 1 receptor (CB1), which is found in the central nervous system. Activating this receptor gives the psychoactive effect most commonly associated with medical cannabis.
CBD doesn't bind with the (CB1) receptor and will not cause a psychoactive effect. CBD can also act to suppress the CB1-activating qualities of compounds like THC.
